pipe smoke rises before my eyes clouding the view ahead of me .
my gaze is focused on nothing in particular, just tomorrow .
Wow Thunder, that is very well written and quite beautiful. I really like the balance throughout. It is dark and demanding and hopeful and comforting all at the same tiime.
Very good work my friend, thanks for sharing it with us!
i just saw it and it was very suspenseful, well-acted, intriguing plot, and denzel was fabulous!
the last 30 minutes just kept you on the edge of your seat----how on earth could it end?!?

the outing at the lake...
one last memory.
once when laurie was staying at rainey's house, we decided to go up to canyon lake and spend the weekend.
Hi (((James)))
Just finished reading your story about your first love. I think most people pine away thinking of their first love, it is the stuff movies and novels are made of. That is not to say that they have a happy ending. Usually they just end.
At any rate, I laughed and cried reading your account, and I thank you for sharing it with us. I am sure it brings memories back to many of us.
It reminds me of that song, "Strawberry Wine". Bittersweet memories that we can all relate to.
Hi StinkyPantz,
My definition of "spirituality" is, How to feel comfortable in the world without losing your sense of self. Now I realize that may differ from others opinion, but that is just what it means to me.
Spirituality to me means, how I connect to others. It is the common denomonator of humanity.
For me, it does not involve ghostly figures floating in outer space, or grandfatherly figures sporting silver beards and white robes.
I feel certain you are aware of your spiritual side, but are insecure in recognizing it. No body can name it for you. It has many different names. To let another label it for you will harm you in some way. My wish for you is that you discover it for yourself, and express it outwardly to others. Because we all have it, it is just expressed and understood in different ways.
I think every person has a spiritual aspect to share. It is just a matter of focusing inward and finding it. Once you find it, you will exude it to others. I think it is not something you are born knowing, but something that must be developed and grown over time.
both young and old.. .
to fight for our freedom,.
to stand and be bold.. .
Another lovely poem Sheila, thanks so much.
We must understand that poems are written from the "heart" of the authors. Usually poems (at least the better ones) are strictly from a personal experience point of view. Poetry covers many topics and each must be viewed and evaluated by how well the author conveyed their feelings. Poetry is art, just like a painting is art. One doesnt necessarily have to find and agree with a precise point to be able to find something redeeming and beautiful about it.
Some have read this particular poem and jumped in to opine on their political stance. Personally, I think you have missed alot. And I am left to wonder why some jumped in so soon on this particular poem, but found SheilaM's other poems unworthy of comment (poems she penned herself and felt very vulnerable about posting).
There is much more to poetry than subject matter ya know. Word usage, flow, rythym, and simply conveying emotion should be pondered. Have you ever been to a museum of art, and observed people standing for many minutes gazing at a painting? It is a person searching for a deeper meaning, or to relate to the artists feelings....
after reading cyber-sister's post about a jw who knocked on her door, i thought it might be a good idea to talk about preparing ourselves for the almost inevitable time when a jw will try to "preach to us" and try to get us to return.. like cyber-sister i met a jw fairly recently who immediately started preaching to me.
she said jehovah had removed his holy spirit from me and that is why i can't see the "truth".
at the time i was taken unawares and didn't really know what to say, apart from that i don't believe it anymore.
I left out the thought that some have the gift of planting a seed (getting people to think for themselves). You may be one of those people, and if you are then I think your original response is both reasonable and honest.

Hi Sirona
Over the years I have came to the conclusion that jw's are like predators. They go to meetings several times a week to learn how to "effectively argue" and overcome "conversation stoppers". In essence they want a controlled setting and conversation and are mentally "weeding out" those who they feel are contrary.
Like you, I don't care to convert or change the minds of those who are already set in their ways. I deal with them with a "not interested" or "we are christians". Then I close the door abruptly so as not to give them a chance to get a word in edgewise. I think this fitting for those who uphold the notion that their own members cant speak without raising their hands and giving a force fed answer.
hey everyone.. i've been "out" for about six months now, fully enjoying life for the first time in a very long time.
part of my joy comes from the freedom i now have to explore other spiritualities.. i will say, though, that since leaving i've felt something lacking in my life.
not because i regret my decision to leave.
Very good question Marked and welcome to the board.
I am in agreement with Carmel in many ways. My sprirituality is very complex and multi faceted. There are times that I take great spritual comfort in seeing wonders of nature, and I will converse with god or just sit and take in the beautiful gifts with my senses.
Sometimes I find it in writings of people that I feel are very attuned to the divine. People who make an example in their lives and that I find exceptional.
Sometimes I find great spritual help in music. There are so many songwriters and singers that just have the gift so to speak.
Many are blessed with the gift of poetry, and convey much spirituality in their works.
Artists such as Michael D'Angelo seem to touch me very deeply. His works have a very calming and godly effect on me.
I guess that to sum it up, I get my spirituality mainly through the acts of other people. That makes god real to me. Although I lean toward Christianity, I freely accept and admire people from all walks of faith who help me feel close to god.
